Introducing the Achilleus/Achilles, the renowned hero of the Greeks during the Trojan War.  He was a fearsome warrior who chose a short, glorious life over a long and undistinguished one.  According to legend, he was ambushed and killed by an arrow to the heel shot by Paris (under the guidance of Apollo, who supported Troy against the Greeks), as this was the only part of him not invulnerable.  This versatile plectrum is one or our favorite models, as it strikes a perfect balance between size and thickness.  The material is UHMW-PE with superior wear quality, tactile feel, little deflection noise and a warm sounding tone.  When ordering please specify your preferences in the order notes section.  Achilles is available in Black, White, Purple, Blue and Green and the available thicknesses range from 6mm to 14mm.  The default (if details are not specified by the buyer) will be 9mm thick and the artisan’s choice of color.

The best pick I have ever played!

WOW! I am blown away! I have the blue 9mm version with 4 optics and it is stunning! Not only does it look great, but the finish feels incredible! No other picks compare to the comfort and feel of Purple Plectrums. The craftsmanship is superb!

Now, the Scallon is quite large but it took literally no time to get used to. It feels PERFECT. And that's coming from someone who generally plays smaller picks such as the Apollo. This pick is very sturdy. It doesn't move around in your hand while attacking the strings. Instead, it sits in place very nicely. The 9mm thickness allows for a very relaxed grip. This is extremely beneficial, especially if you are a heavy alternate picker; for, less tension equals more speed!

Furthermore, the tone is beautiful! The sharp tip is very articulate but still produces a nice warm tone. Although the tip is sharp, It does not get caught in the strings or increase friction. It actually glides off the strings effortlessly. I have noticed my picking is much cleaner and more accurate with not only this pick, but with all picks from Purple Plectrums. The control is unbelievable. Changing strings and string skipping has never felt so smooth! My pick never gets caught and my hand never stumbles while playing at higher speeds. It's magical what these picks can do for your playing. Purple Plectrums has shown me what a great guitar pick truly is and what the right pick can do for one's playing. Every guitarist needs to experience the Purple Plectrums magic!

👍👍

I got the 6mm thicc Scallon. This is an amazing guitar pick! Almost no chirp at all. Comfortable due to its girth.
There are other thicc picks I've tried. Including other handcrafted picks. The difference with this pick is the MATERIAL! Although the pick is nice and comfortable, it comes to a GREAT STRONG POINTY tip. Where other big picks are either strong and chirpy, or quiet but slightly flimsy at the tip, the Purple Plectrums material has the best of both worlds with no compromisation. Because of this, your hand doesn't get very tired holding on to the pick, which allows you to play just as fast, if not faster with it as well!

Overall: The best pick over 2mm thick out there (at least for me)!

Random Rant...

The reason I bring up 2mm guitar picks, the Dunlop Andy James Signature pick (A JD Jazztone Large Pointy tip BUT made out of Ultex) is my favorite mass-produced pick due to its tone, and price. I was a Guitar TA in Highschool and got a bunch of these for the students to borrow instead of using the lame bendy celluloid picks that the school had(lol).

Fun fact: The (Ultex JD Jazztone) picks helped more than you'd think due to the consistency of the material.

If you were to have this pick made more comfortable, you get the Purple Plectrums Scallon ;)

Rob Scallon knows!

I have had this pick for about 6 months and it really is the best. I was worried the size would be an issue now the only issue is when I cannot find it as I need to use normal picks which suck for me. I seem to drop the normal sized picks too easy, this pick may fall out of my hand every 100th song versus every song with a normal pick. Hands down the best picks in the world.
