This extremely unique pick has been a game changer for the way I play, and as someone with chronic inflammation problems in my hand, this pick has allowed me to practice for longer periods of time without immediate pain.
Straight up game changer, its super comfortable in your hand, produces a very warm sound, without the "washboard" effect of like .73 or the "tug" of felt or leather picks, these things are in a class of there own
I bought one of these a few weeks ago and its incredible, I can't go back to using "normal" picks, they stay in your hand so well, feel smooth yet rough (in a good way) and have such a nice tone, not the mention the uses of both sides, the more rounded sounds great for strumming and pushing out power chords and the more sharp sounds great for blistering solos and clean jazz runs, and of course it djents beautifully. This pick also sounds great on bass, it has a warm and powerful tone and glides across the strings without losing too much punch. You will not be disappointed by this pick, especially if you play multiple styles.
For reference, I normally use Jazz III or Tortex Sharp shapes. I e-mailed Kori to ask for a smaller size and we compromised on 5mm. Coming from a 1.5mm pick, I was worried about the size: I'm glad to have been proven otherwise. The pictures don't do this pick justice. You're getting two picks for the price of one. The tips taper down to a relatively thin point, which is great for reducing pick chirp/scrape you may experience with thicker picks. The tone of the material is somehow clear and smooth simultaneously. Easy to hold, grip, and stay in your hand. It looks awesome and unique and you can switch your picking tone on the fly. 5mm now feels a bit thin then when I got it about a week ago. I ordered another the same day I got my first because of how great this pick is. The best way I have personally found to hold it is with either tip, pointed or regular, almost perpendicular to the knuckle of your index finger. It gives it a safer and more stable grip.
I highly recommend all of these picks. Having tried the Arrow and ordered the Ares and Athena, this is personally my favorite shape.
You won't be dissapointed either way
This has to be the most unique pick in existence! I have the 9mm version and it feels amazing. I am accustomed to Jazz III sized picks so I wasn't sure how I would like this, but I absolutely love it. It has been getting the most use lately out of all my picks! It’s very nice to hold and helps maintain a very relaxed grip. It's actually difficult to tense up with this thing!
Just as other picks from Purple Plectrums, this pick excels in its consistency. The control is incredible! Maintaining clarity in your picking is effortless and so is maintaining and controlling the dynamic of each note. But what really sets this pick apart is the two ends: a very sharp one and a very round one. It's like having two completely different picks in one! The sharp end is extremely articulate! You can hear every individual note, whether alternate picking or sweeping. The clarity is unreal! The round end is much warmer and produces some very nice overtones. Depending on how you strike the string, you can achieve quite a few different sounds.
This has become one of my favorite picks especially for more expressive and melodic playing. It allows for so many more possibilities with phrasing. It has me thinking a lot more about note delivery and picking tone. I love being able to instantly switch between such precise articulation and a much smoother, rounder, and fuller sound! I never imagined a pick making me a better musician, but this one has! Every guitarist needs this pick in their arsenal!
